Portfolios and Conferences

Some reminders: 

I will return essay 3s to you by email on Thursday.  This way, I have a copy of the comments, so that if you have questions while revising, we can more easily discuss.

You can turn in portfolios on Saturday (I'll be in the office from noon to 4), or on Monday between 10 and 4.  We'll start having conferences after that.  Conferences are MANDITORY--you need to come discuss your grade with me and pick up your portfolios.

Any questions--be sure to let me know.  I'll be available by email this weekend.

Reminders and Links

Since y'all don't have a handbook, and your book is a little sketchy on the details of citation for MLA (particularly in-text citation), I want to remind you that you can take advantage of these sites as well:  OWL at Purdue and Diana Hacker's page.  Both of these are great resources for documentation.

Please don't forget that your second summary will be due on Wednesday.  Be sure to use the comments on your first summary to help you make improvements for the second.  Also, be sure to at least skim the essays about juveniles and jail in the textbook.

Finally, if you owe me any past work, try to get that to me as soon as possible.  I should be caught up with grading when I see you on Wednesday.

No Class this Week

Hello all.  I'm not feeling well this morning and, since I have to leave town shortly, I'm going to stay home and rest.

We are going to have to make a few adjustments to the schedule.  For now, be sure that you have a finished second draft of the first essay.  Check in with the blog on Thursday for more information.  (Including, I hope, a revised schedule.)

Scanned Summaries

I swear I'm not trying to be flakey with you all.  I am currently at the office rescanning the summaries because the first round was unreadable.  I'm sending them out right now.

BUT.  Don't worry about the second summary.  I am not sure that you are really going to be able to make a lot of my comments in these drafts.  I would rather that you spend your time working on the first essay (draft due Monday).  We'll worry about your second summaries later on.

You should all get emails by no later than 5pm.  Thanks for you patience! 

Summary II and Apologies

First of all, my apologies for not getting to you earlier--

If you have worked on the second summary this weekend, that is GREAT.  But I wasn't able to get you  summary one over email this weekend (more on that tomorrow).  So summary two won't be due tomorrow.

I'll hand back summary one tomorrow in class, and we'll talk about it.  We'll change the due date for the second summary to Wednesday.  This shouldn't affect our schedule too much.

Again, my apologies.  See you tomorrow.
